CS2 Promo Code Not Working
Nearly every rejected code falls into four causes, and only one of them means the code is actually dead. Working out which one you have takes about a minute and decides whether contacting support is worth anything.
The four causes
Start by separating rejected from ignored, because they have nothing in common. A rejected code produces an error at the field: the string was read and refused. An ignored code is accepted, the account is created, and no reward ever appears. Rejection is usually about the string or the account; being ignored is usually about a condition or an ended promotion. The most frequent cause by a wide margin is the string itself — a copied trailing space, an autocorrected hyphen, or a capitalisation change introduced by a mobile keyboard. The second is an account the platform does not consider new: the same email address, phone number, device or household IP address is enough for the promotion to count as already used, and this catches people who genuinely believe they have never registered. The third is a condition not yet met, which shows as pending rather than missing. Only the fourth — a promotion that has ended, or that does not run in your country — means the code is finished.
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Field shows an error | Trailing space, dash or capitalisation | Type it manually in capitals, do not paste |
| "Code already used" | Account not new by the platform's definition | Do not open a second account — that is a ban, not a workaround |
| Accepted, nothing credited | Condition not met | Check the promotions panel for a pending state |
| No code field at all | Promotion not available in your region | Confirm regional terms before depositing |
Why a second account is the worst fix
Opening another account to reuse a code is the most common cause of a permanent ban in this category, and the ban normally takes the balance with it. Detection is not sophisticated and does not need to be: matching device fingerprints, a shared IP address, a reused payment instrument or a linked Steam account are each individually sufficient, and platforms check all of them because bonus abuse is the fraud they see most. The asymmetry is stark. The upside is one more welcome bonus, typically a few dollars. The downside is losing every linked account along with whatever is in them, and having no recourse, because you will have broken a term you accepted. If a promotion genuinely will not apply to your account, the correct conclusion is that this offer is not for you — not that the check needs defeating.
When to report it, and to whom
Two different organisations can help you, and sending the report to the wrong one costs days. Anything about your account, balance, verification or a pending reward is the platform's — only its support has the access. Anything about a trade hold, an inventory limit or a restricted Steam account is Valve's, and neither the platform nor we can move it. What comes to us is narrower: a code published on this site that no longer works. That is worth telling us because we delete entries the day they fail a check rather than marking them expired, so a report shortens the window in which someone else wastes the same minute. Tell us which code, on which platform, and at what point it stopped — a rejected field, an accepted code with no reward, and a missing field are three different reports. Frequently asked questions
Why does my CS2 promo code say it is already used?
The platform does not consider your account new. Promotion terms normally limit the reward to one per person, email address, device and often household IP address, so a previous registration you had forgotten is enough.
The code was accepted but nothing was credited.
Check the promotions panel. Most often the reward is pending against a condition such as a minimum deposit or an unconfirmed email address, which looks identical to a missing reward unless you look.
Can I open a second account to use the code again?
No, and it is the most common cause of a permanent ban, usually including the balance. Matching devices, IP addresses, payment instruments or linked Steam accounts are each enough to detect it.
How do I know if a code has genuinely expired?
If the field accepts the string, the account is new, no condition is pending and no reward appears, the promotion behind the code has almost certainly ended even though the form still parses it.
